Your AC can come in handy when the temperatures rise in Chattanooga, TN. That is, as long as it can work efficiently and effectively. Unfortunately you may need to have a professional repair your AC from time to time, though, especially if you notice one of these five signs.
1. A Warm Home
If your place seems warm even with the AC running, you might have a problem with your refrigerant. An HVAC technician can determine whether there is a leak somewhere.
2. High Humidity Levels
While an AC is different from a dehumidifier, it does have the ability to make your home feel less humid. If it seems muggy inside your home, consider having a professional service your AC. You may have a leak, dirty coils or filters, low refrigerant, or another problem.
3. Uneven Cooling
You might notice that some rooms seem cooler than others. In this case, you’ll need someone to examine your AC because you could have an issue with your ductwork. Alternatively, the problem may lie with your refrigerant levels, insulation or air filter.
4. Loud Noises
Anything louder than a hum or a few quiet noises when your AC starts up could point to a significant problem. Some of the parts inside your system may have become loose. If so, they could cause major damage if a professional does not address them right away.
5. High Utility Bills
If you’ve noticed that your utility bills are much higher than usual, and you haven’t changed your thermostat settings, your AC may not be working well. It may have some sort of issue with its blower, refrigerant, compressor or another component, and it may have to work overtime to compensate for that. A technician can run tests and inspect things closely to identify what’s going on.
